Precision Grinding Capabilities
United Precision Grinding offers comprehensive precision grinding services for valve manufacturers, repair facilities, and industrial operations throughout the Gulf Coast and beyond. Our capabilities span from micro-precision surface grinding to heavy component grinding on parts weighing up to 10,000 pounds. For large items such as valves and other components requiring disassembly, our plant is served by 40-ton and 20-ton overhead cranes.
With over 30 years of experience and state-of-the-art equipment, we deliver the tight tolerances, superior finishes, and consistent quality that critical valve components and industrial parts demand.
Surface Grinding
Surface grinding is a key component in many manufacturing processes. Our precision surface grinders are equipped with advanced controls and premium grinding wheels to achieve flatness tolerances as tight as ±0.0001″ across the entire grinding surface.
We handle both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, from standard carbon steels to exotic alloys like Inconel, Hastelloy, and duplex stainless steels.
Key Specifications
- Flatness tolerances to ±0.0001"
- Surface finishes 4 Ra to 125 Ra
- Maximum grinding area: 24" x 72" and 30" x 72"
- Capacity up to 8,000 lbs
- Magnetic and vacuum workholding
Vertical Grinding Kings
Vertical grinding is our specialty. Our vertical grinder fleet is the backbone of our valve grinding services. We operate multiple vertical grinders with capacities ranging from 12″ to 60″ diameter.
Key Specifications
- Diameter capacity up to 62"
- Height capacity up to 60"
- Component weight up to 10,000 lbs
- Precision rotary tables
Applications include:
- Plug valve bodies
- Gate valve bodies and bonnets
- Globe valve bodies and bonnets
- Check valve bodies
- Ball valve bodies
- Butterfly valve bodies
- Pump casings and covers
- Compressor cylinders
- Large bearing housings
ID Grinding (Internal Diameter)
Internal diameter grinding creates precise, smooth internal cylindrical surfaces. Our ID grinding machines use planetary grinding heads that rotate the grinding wheel at high speeds while simultaneously orbiting around the bore’s centerline.
Key Specifications
- Bore diameters from 0.5" to 24"
- Depth capacity up to 48"
- Straightness tolerances to ±0.0002"
- Surface finishes to 8 Ra
- Through-hole and blind-hole grinding
Applications include:
- Valve bonnet stem bores
- Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder bores
- Bearing housing bores
- Bushing and sleeve internal diameters
- Pump shaft internal passages
- Die and tooling internal features
- Precision tube internal diameters
OD Grinding (Outer Diameter)
External diameter grinding produces precise outside cylindrical surfaces with tight diameter tolerances, exceptional roundness, and mirror-like surface finishes. Critical for valve stems, shafts, and sleeves.
Our grinding process for valve stems holds diameter tolerances of ±0.0002″ with roundness within ±0.00005″, ensuring smooth operation and long packing life.
Key Specifications
- Diameters from 0.25" to 24"
- Length capacity up to 120"
- Roundness tolerances to ±0.00005"
- Surface finishes to 4 Ra (mirror finish)
